Instant Pot Oxtails

Description

Tender and flavorful oxtails cooked in an Instant Pot for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oxtails (frozen or defrosted)
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp dry sriracha (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3/4 cup beef broth (or water)

Instructions

  1. Mix together seasonings, and rub on to outside on all sides of your oxtails to season well.
  2. Place olive oil in Instant Pot and set to saute. Place oxtail in instant pot and brown on all sides. Press cancel when done.
  3. Remove pieces from pot and place a metal trivet into the bottom of the pot. Place pieces on top of that trivet.
  4. Pour broth or water into the bottom of pot so they can steam.
  5. Lock lid and steam valve, set to high pressure for 45 minutes. Do a quick release when done.
  6. Carefully remove the metal trivet and transfer cooked oxtails to a plate or use in a soup or stew.

Notes

  • This recipe can be used to create a rich broth or sauce for soups and stews.
  • Adjust the heat level by modifying the amount of dry sriracha.
