- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks, softened)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, softened)
- 3 – 4 cups confectioner’s sugar (sifted)
- Pinch of salt
- 2 teaspoons cherry extract or vanilla extract (can also use maraschino cherry juice 2–3 tablespoons)
- 2–3 tablespoons almond milk or cream
- 1–2 drops pink food gel

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease or line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Cream butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Press dough evenly into the pan and bake for 12–15 minutes, checking at 12 minutes. The center will look slightly underbaked. Cool completely before frosting.
- Cream butter until fluffy, then gradually mix in powdered sugar (½ cup at a time).
- Add cherry extract, salt, and milk or cream as needed to achieve a light, fluffy consistency.
- Optional: Add food coloring and sprinkles for decoration.

- Ensure the butter is softened for easier mixing.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before applying frosting for the best results.
