A delicious latte made with brown butter and maple syrup, perfect for a cozy afternoon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 1 double shot espresso or 1/3 cup strong brewed coffee
- 3/4 cup milk (whole, oat, or almond)
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and continue to cook until browned and fragrant (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from heat immediately.
- Brew your espresso or strong coffee while the butter is browning.
- Heat the milk until steaming (not boiling), then froth using a milk frother, French press, or whisk.
- In a mug, combine the browned butter and maple syrup. Add espresso and stir well.
- Pour in the steamed milk, holding back foam with a spoon, then top with foam.
- Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon or a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
Notes
- This recipe can be adjusted for sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup.
- For a dairy-free option, use oat or almond milk.
- Make sure to watch the butter closely to avoid burning.
