Description

Delicious Spam sushi rolls made with marinated Spam and sticky rice wrapped in nori.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz can Spam
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 sheets roasted sushi nori, cut in half
  • 3 cups medium grain sticky rice or sushi rice (cooked)
  • to taste Furikake rice seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Slice the Spam into 8 equal pieces.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil.
  4. Marinate the sliced Spam in the mixture for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the marinated Spam in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until crispy.
  6. Prepare the sticky rice according to package instructions.
  7. Lay a sheet of nori on a clean surface and place about 1/2 cup of rice on one half, pressing it down.
  8. Add a slice of cooked Spam on top of the rice.
  9. Roll the nori over the rice and Spam, and use plastic wrap to maintain the shape.
  10. Slice into bite-sized pieces and serve.

Notes

  • Furikake seasoning adds extra flavor but is optional.
  • Be sure to press the rice down firmly for better rolling.
